Fennel is not a real tuber, but a bulb. Its shape varies from flat to bulbous. Fennel is the thickened stalk of the fennel plant.
The flavour is aniseed-like, a little sweet, but pungent. Heat softens the flavour of fennel. Our fennel comes from southern Spain and Italy (Puglia).

These red gems ripen under the Spanish sun, more specifically in the Huelva region (Cartaya).
